Sports & recovery massage · Los Gatos
Keep a hard-working body moving well
Sounds like you?
Tell us what you’re training for.
Your sport, what’s coming up and what’s taking the load. Choosing the technique is our job.
- Runners and triathletes: calves, hamstrings, hips and the IT band
- Cyclists: hips, low back and a neck that holds the riding position
- Pickleball and tennis players: forearm, elbow and shoulder
- Dancers and yogis: hips and the muscles around the pelvis
- Lifters and climbers: upper back, shoulders and forearms
- Getting ready for, or recovering from, a race or big event
You don’t have to call yourself an athlete. If you run, ride, lift, play pickleball, hike the hills above town or spend your day on your feet, your body does repetitive work, and it adds up. Our sports and recovery massage in Los Gatos is about keeping you doing it.
Mikaela holds a degree in kinesiology, and Beth’s training includes sports and advanced soft tissue work. Many of our active clients come to us through their physical therapist.

Sports and recovery massage for runners, cyclists and weekend athletes
Mikaela starts with compression and range of motion assessments, then uses myofascial and trigger point release, pin and stretch, PNF and assisted stretching, traction and mobilization where they’re useful. Beth brings advanced soft tissue work and the acupressure she learned in Japan.
If you’re seeing a physical therapist, tell us what they’re working on. PT often targets something very specific; loosening the surrounding tissue can make that work easier. We’re happy to follow their guidance.
We also see a lot of people whose goal is simply to keep going: to work out without pain, and to stay loose enough to keep doing what they love as the years add up.
What a session may include
- Sports massage with range of motion assessment
- Myofascial and trigger point release
- PNF and assisted stretching, pin and stretch
- Deep tissue and advanced soft tissue work
- Traction and mobilization
- Cupping, where it helps (ask when you book)
You don’t need to ask for any of these by name. Your therapist chooses based on how you feel that day.

Questions about active body + recovery
Do I need to be an athlete?
No. If you move a lot, for sport, work or fun, this is for you. Plenty of our clients just want to keep hiking, playing and working out without pain.
When should I book around a race?
Many athletes book a lighter session a few days before an event and a recovery session a day or more after. Tell us your dates when you book and we’ll plan the pressure around them.
Can you work alongside my physical therapist?
Yes, and many clients do. Tell us what your PT is working on and any restrictions, and we’ll fit the session around it.
Is stretching part of the session?
It can be. Mikaela uses PNF and assisted stretching, pin and stretch and mobilization. Wear or bring something comfortable if you’d like more stretching work.
Will it leave me sore for training?
It shouldn’t if we know your schedule. Deeper recovery work can leave you a little tender for a day, so we keep it lighter before hard sessions.
