Focused work for tension that keeps coming back
Sounds like you?
Describe it the way you feel it.
Where it hurts, what makes it worse, how long it’s been going on. Choosing the technique is our job.
- Tech neck: shoulders and upper back that set like concrete after a day at the screen
- A low back that tightens with sitting, driving or long flights
- A stiff, painful shoulder you’re already working on with a physical therapist
- Forearm and elbow soreness from pickleball, tennis or a mouse
- Tight calves and sore heels, including plantar fasciitis
- Headaches that seem to start in your neck
- Massages that felt nice but never reached the problem
Some tension goes away after a good night’s sleep. Some doesn’t. When the same places keep tightening (neck, shoulders, low back, hips), a relaxing routine usually isn’t enough. Our therapeutic and deep tissue massage in Los Gatos is built for that second kind.
These sessions stay focused. Your therapist finds where the tension is actually coming from, works there at a pressure you agree on, and doesn’t spend half the hour on areas you don’t need.
Why we look around the sore spot
Where you feel it isn’t always where it starts.
That’s why a session may spend time above or below the place that hurts.
- A tight neckcan start in the upper back and chest
- A sore low backcan start in the hips
- A sore heelcan start in the calf
Therapeutic and deep tissue massage, aimed at the source
Every session starts with a short conversation: where it hurts, how long, what makes it better or worse, and anything your physician, physical therapist or chiropractor has told you. Then your therapist checks how the area moves before deciding how to work.
Deep tissue doesn’t have to mean painful. The goal is pressure your body can accept, held long enough for tight tissue to let go. You’ll be asked about pressure at the start and during the session, and you can change it at any time.
Many clients are also seeing a physical therapist or chiropractor. Focused soft tissue work can complement that care by helping things loosen so their work goes more easily. Tell us who you’re seeing and what they’ve recommended.
What a session may include
- Advanced soft tissue techniques for one specific muscle or area
- Deep tissue massage at a pressure you agree on
- Acupressure and shiatsu-based point work, held until the tissue releases
- Myofascial release, including cupping where it helps (ask when you book)
- Traction and gentle mobilization
- Reflexology for the feet and calves
You don’t need to ask for any of these by name. Your therapist chooses based on how you feel that day.

What to book
One focus area: 60 minutes. Two areas, or your first deep session: 75 or 90 minutes. Several problem areas or a full reset: 120 minutes.
If pain is new, severe, follows an injury, or comes with numbness, weakness, fever or swelling, see a medical provider first.
A client’s story
“After just four sessions, I experienced a dramatic reduction in pain!”
Individual experience. Massage is not a substitute for medical care.
I can't express how grateful I am for Beth Panero at Integrative Massage & Wellness! After struggling with plantar fasciitis for over a year—despite multiple podiatrist visits, a corticosteroid injection, physical therapy, and using orthotics—I decided to seek out a massage therapist who could focus specifically on my heel and calves. From the moment I stepped into Beth's serene space, I felt at ease. She is incredibly professional and truly listens to your concerns. After just four sessions, I experienced a dramatic reduction in pain! It’s hard to believe how much progress I've made in such a short time. I’m now planning to see Beth twice a month for ongoing care, and I can’t recommend her enough. If you’re dealing with similar issues, don’t hesitate to book an appointment with her. She has been a game-changer for my wellness, and I genuinely can’t thank her enough!

Questions about pain + tightness
Does deep tissue massage have to hurt?
No. Firm pressure and pain are different things. Your therapist works at a depth your body can accept and checks in as you go. If something is too much, say so and it changes straight away.
I have plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow or a frozen shoulder. Can I come in?
Yes. People come to us with all three, often while also seeing a doctor or physical therapist. We can’t promise a result and massage isn’t a substitute for medical care, but focused work on the surrounding muscles is often part of what clients find helpful. Tell us your history when you book.
Should I see a doctor or PT first?
If the pain is new, severe, follows an injury or comes with numbness, weakness, fever or swelling, yes. Otherwise you can book directly, and we’re happy to work alongside the care you already have.
Will I be sore afterward?
Some tenderness for a day or two after deeper work is common, a bit like after a workout. Drink water, move gently, and tell your therapist next time so they can adjust.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on you. Many clients come more often while something is flaring, then settle into a monthly tune-up. After your first session your therapist will tell you honestly what they’d suggest.
Do you offer cupping?
Yes. Some of our therapists use cupping for myofascial release, where lifting and holding the tissue works better than pressing into it. Mention it when you book if you’d like it, or if you’d rather not.
Ready when you are.
